How to make a Fresh Luxurious Hotel Breakfast at home

Weekends are for Brunch.

It’s not official summer yet, but summer is in the air and I love this so much. My mood, my whole life and even my recipes and weekend brunches get inspired by the colorful, bright and fresh weather, and I love this so much. How is it where you are living? Are you getting summer anytime soon?

Me and hubby love to spend a little bit extra time on our breakfasts (which are more like a late brunch) in the weekends and always end up making various foods, because we love to “eat a little bit out of everything”. Both of us are definitely more of “small but various foods” than only eating from one big, main. In this post I want to share how we are thinking regarding the food choices for breakfast/ brunch in the weekends and how you can get that perfect, hotel-breakfast-kind-of-feeling from your own home!

It’s simple making a hotel breakfast - at home.

This time we made this delicious brunch (but hubby had some mince meat with egg too that didn’t make it into the photo) with fresh and colorful elements. Doesn’t this feel like the perfect hotel breakfast - but made in your home instead? Freshly baked ciabatta bread, yoghurt bowl with homemade granola and banana chips, fresh watermelon and kiwi, lemonade with spearmint and omelette with feta cheese and spearmint. We obviously made sandwiches of the ciabatta bread and enjoyed this breakfast to the fullest.

But how do you make a hotel breakfast like this?

I get it, when you wake up on a Saturday or Sunday you might want the luxurious breakfast/brunch but still is a bit lazy and don’t want to put in too much of an offert. There are simple ways of getting a luxurious weekend breakfast without putting in too much of an effort and let me tell you about it here:

  • Yoghurt or smoothie: I always like to add some kind of food which is a bit more creamy to my at-home hotel breakfast/ brunch. Smoothies in glass, smoothie bowls or yoghurt bowls are easier for the body to digest and is very kind to your stomach to eat in the mornings. Both smoothies and yoghurt have endless of variations and you can make them suiting to your taste and preferences (like vegan) easily. Add fresh fruits and berries, (homemade) granola, nuts and seeds, and enjoy!

  • Eggs: eggs have endless of possibilities and if you are not vegan I recommend you to add some kind of egg recipe to your at-home hotel breakfast. You can boil them and eat them as they are or have them as garnishing for your bread. You can make scrambled eggs or omelettes of various kinds. Waffles and pancakes? Absolutely, that’s possible to do too with your eggs - or without eggs! You can make them vegan too of course, without eggs, if you prefer that.

  • Freshness and color: this mostly comes from vegetables and fruits. This is what gives your at-home hotel breakfast color and freshness. You don’t need to do much. Cut and slice up various vegetables and fruits, place them on a plate and have them as sides to your other food. The vegetables can be used as garnishing for your bread/ toasts/ sandwiches or for your possible omelette. The fruits can be eaten like they are of be used as garnishing for your smoothie or yoghurt bowl. No matter - don’t forget the fruits and vegetables. They are important when making a fresh and vibrant hotel breakfast at home.

  • Bread: I personally love to have freshly baked bread in the mornings and am spoiled having a bakery that bakes fresh bread every single morning, just 50 m away from my home. If you don’t have access to fresh baked bread from a bakery and don’t feel like making your own, you can obviously just use “ordinary” soft bread. Otherwise, by fresh baked bread from the evening before and then in the morning after warm them up in the oven for a few minutes and they become like all fresh baked, coming straight out the oven. Big recommendation! If you like hard bread, you can also add crisp bread to your at-home hotel breakfast/ brunch.

  • Spreads and garnishing: except for vegetables for your garnishing for your bread, you can also make creamy spreads (like classical hummus, beetroot hummus, avocado mash or whipped feta cheese) or bring out various (vegan) cheeses, jams and veg substitutes for salami, ham slices and similar.

  • Sweets: this is a matter of taste but if you like sweets when eating a hotel breakfast or brunch, add some croissants, biscuits, muffins of your own taste. I recommend you to not pick too many sweets though, because that can result in you first eating them first and not ending up eating the actual food.

  • What to drink? Neither me nor hubby are much of coffee people but I personally love to make and drink fresh pressed orange juice in the mornings - and especially on weekends. We had it this morning, but my juice didn’t make it to the photo. You can obviously drink coffee of optional kind, tea, juices and even milk if you want. It’s also nice to have a “shot” of some kind like we had. We had lemonade shots with fresh spearmint.
