Greek Roasted Toast with Tomato, Olive Oil, Oregano and Feta Cheese

If there’s one toast you need in your life - then it is 100% this one.

I grew up with the Greek food culture and showing you more of its food makes me so excited. This small dish is something I have been eating - very often - since was a kid. It was the kind of small snack I made quickly when I came home from school in the afternoon, when I needed a little bit of energy, when I just was feeling a little bit greek food, or just in the evening, eating it together with my mom and sister. This is so so sooo delicious and something you need in your life. This will make you question every single "butter-and-cheese"-sandwich you have ever eaten.

If you think about it, this is really like an upgraded and more luxurious butter-and-cheese toast…

We start by picking a Greek farmhouse bread instead of the white mass-produced toasts. Instead of the butter we use fine greek olive olive oil, and instead of the yellow cheese we are using a (vegan) feta cheese. Top with some sun ripped tomated, oregano and sea salt and you are ready to go. That is all you need.

All of my ingredients are Greek and almost all are locally produced in Greece.

Greek Toast

INGREDIENTS:

1 slice of a white soft bread (or a greek traditional farmhouse bread)

Olive Oil

Sea Salt

Oregano

Optional Feta Cheese

HOW TO MAKE:

  • Roast your bread. Ripple over some olive oil.

  • Cut a tomato in slices and place them on the bread. Garnish with sea salt, oregano and at last feta cheese.


NOTES:

  • I'm using vegan feta cheese in this recipe but be careful when picking a vegan feta cheese so that it doesn’t taste coconut. We don't want that! Otherwise, pick optional feta cheese.
