Air Fried Corn Ribs with Chili Butter and Feta Cheese

It all started when I tried out an air fryer for the first time and since then, life has never been the same again.

Before any of you “air fryer”-haters start, listen up. Because get it, I used to be that person too that was questionable to using an air fryer. Like, will the food even get tasty? Can you really cook whatever you want in an air fryer? How does an air fryer EVEN work? So many questions! But when I just let those questions be, just tried out an air fryer, I realised how simple it was to make food and now I use my air fryer ALL THE TIME. And no, this is not a sponsored post, just me geeking over a kitchen device.

This takes me to today’s recipe - Air Fried Corn Ribs with Chili Butter and Feta Cheese. Corn ribs started out as a Tiktok-trend, it went viral and a few months later here I am making corn ribs like never before and am obsessed. Let’s get into it.

What are Air Fried Corn Ribs?

Roughly explained “corn ribs are essentially strips of corn on the cob, baked full of spices to have an aromatic taste. Super quick, easy and delicious. They are also known as corn riblets. They are called corn riblets because they are easier to eat than your traditional corn on the cob”. Sounds absolutely amazing right?

What Air Fryer do I need?

You can use whatever air fryer really. I have used a more expensive one from a known brand (costs approx 400 dollars) and a more cheap one from a random brand (costs approx 70 dollars), and both worked good. This does of course not mean that some air fryers are better than others, and that the cooking can vary a bit. Some air fryers need longer cooking time than other.

If I don’t own an air fryer, can I make these corn ribs without one?

Yes, even if you don’t own an air fryer, you can still make corn ribs. It’s simple to make in an oven or using a barbecue grill.


THIS RECIPE IS:

  • Vegetarian and can easily be made vegan

  • A TikTok-trend that has gone viral

  • Delicious to eat as a snack or have as a side to, for instance your barbecue party

  • Great for both kids and adults

  • Can be made with an air fryer, or if not having one it can also be made in the oven or in a barbecue grill.


Air Fried Corn Ribs with Chili Butter and Feta Cheese

INGREDIENTS:

2 big corn on cob
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp hot paprika powder
1 tsp garlic powder
0.5 tsp onion powder, optional
Salt after taste

2 tbsp butter
1 tsp chiliflakes
A pinch of salt

Feta cheese or other grated cheese
Lime Juice
1 small spring onion

HOW TO MAKE:

  • First, combine olive oil, paprika powder, garlic powder and salt in a bowl to a dressing.

  • Then, peel the corn, removing the husk and excess debris. Rinse and clean the corn, dry and set aside.

  • With a sharp knife, carefully slice the corn in half. Then slice the half into quarters creating four "ribs" per corn.

  • Brush each piece with the dressing and cook them in 2 batches if your air fryer is small, at 180 C (335 F) for approx 15-20’, stirring at least once halfway.

  • Meanwhile, melt the butter in a small saucepan. Add chili flakes and salt and pour it or brush it over the corns when done.

  • Before serving, garnish with crumbled feta cheese (or other grated cheese), lime juice and chopped spring onion.

NOTE:

  • You can use vegan ingredients for this recipe.
